General Guidelines
-Always maintain the border
around slides (maintain “broadcast area”)
- Use the rule of 6 – no more
than 6 lines per slide and 6 words per line.
Avoid
putting too much information on one slide
- Stay with bullets and phrases
- Use
handouts for detailed information
- Use horizontal or landscape
orientation
- Avoid red colors and busy
backgrounds
- Use darker backgrounds and
lighter letters
- Yellow on blue is clear and
readable
- For broadcast, avoid movement
builds and animations
To put builds
in a slide, it’s best to use “appear”
-Keep color scheme, slide
layout, and design consistent
Fonts
-Use Sans Serif fonts
Fonts such as
Arial are best for broadcast
-Use 44 point for headers
-Use at least 32 point fonts
for text
-Always check new visuals
before using them on a broadcast
-Spelling counts
